Description
The Philips HeartStart OnSite defibrillator is equipped with infant/child pads specifically designed for treating children under 8 years of age or weighing less than 55 pounds (25 kg). These pads are stored with the AED and should only be installed when responding to a child or infant patient. The HeartStart Infant/Child SMART Pads instruct the defibrillator to deliver a reduced energy shock of 50 Joules (J), which is more appropriate for younger patients. The pads cartridge is clearly marked with an indication of patient weight and a teddy bear icon for easy identification. It is important to note that these pediatric AED pads should be replaced after use or once every 2 years, regardless of use, as indicated by the expiration date marked on the front of the pads cartridge.
